Mr. Crawford
My animation would not upload I tried it on my laptop and on the school computers I don't know if it needs to be rendered differently or why it won't work. It is unfinished but it's what I have finished up to this point.
Since it won't upload I'm leaving my USB key for you with Mrs. Voison in the office.

THEMES
Stereotyping/Labels
*A person who fits a certain category (Emo, Goth, Prep,
Nerd) and something that represents the stereotype placed on them (Emo + Razor,
Goth + Satanic symbol, Prep + Pom poms, Nerd + Glasses)
-Stereotypes give people a chance to unfairly judge a person
based on lies before without even getting to know them
-Stereotypes give another reason for bullies to target the
people around them
-Stereotypes can cause kids to be insecure with who they are
resulting in them pretending to be someone they’re not
Racism
*People of all races somehow connected
-Racism has gotten out of control lately! People don’t
realize that we are all human no matter what the color of our skin is.
-Racism affects everyone maybe not equally but it does have
an effect on each and every person in the world
-Racism is often overlooked and ignored
LGBT/Homophobia
*LGBT people and couples
-Homophobia is a big issue and it leads to bullying and discrimination
against people who have done nothing wrong
-Homophobia makes it hard for people to come out as being
gay, lesbian, bisexual etc.
-Homophobia is stupid and pointless! Why hurt someone who is
just being themselves? These people were born this way and they can change who
they are and they shouldn't feel the need to.
Mental Health
Awareness
*A brain each with a different mental health problem
-People don’t understand enough about mental health making
it harder for kids with mental health problems to live in society today
-People get bullied for having mental health problems
because others don’t understand it and they think they’re all just freaks
-People are being defined by their mental state now and that’s
not right. People should only be defined by who they are on the inside not by
their disabilities.
Suicide Awareness
*Facts about suicide
-Suicide is happening way too often now a days
-Kids who commit suicide often have underlying mental health
problems that have gone unnoticed and untreated
-More and more kids are committing suicide and by the time
people actually notice that something is wrong it’s too late to save the person

Toy Hack Reflection:
a.
If you
were to box and try to sell this item, how would you describe it and its
purpose? (3 sentences)
Punk Rock Tigger! Great toy for kids into the punk rock genre! Tigger
loves to rock out to your favorite songs with you!
b.
What
do you like most about the new toy? (3 sentences)
I really like his Mohawk and the pink patch on his back. I just really
like the material and how soft it is. I also like how the pink patch looks on
the brown fur of the body
c.
What
do you like least about the new toy? (3 sentences)
The stitching. It not the cleanest and it’s a little too noticeable in
some places. It was also really frustrating to try and sew things together with
the fur and fuzz getting in the way and knotting around the thread.
d.
What
would you do if you were to re-do this assignment? (3 sentences)
I
would probably plan it out a little better, I kind of just started with the
head and went from there just adding random pieces that I found, without really
having a clear idea of what I wanted it to be/look like in the end. I would
also try to stay away from furry/fluffy/hairy/fuzzy material because it’s a
pain to sew through it when the fur/hair/fuzz/fluff keeps knotting around the
thread. If I could re-do it I would also add bat wings because I really wanted
to use the handles on the body to make wings but it wasn't working properly so
I scrapped the idea and just stitched a pink patch to its back instead.

Art Movie
Date: April 9 2015
Class: Media Arts
Assignment: Art Movie
Medium: Adobe Premiere Pro
TECHNICAL
Almost all of the technical steps I used
were new to me. I’ve done things like this on Windows Movie Maker before but
I’ve never used Adobe Pro. Adobe Premiere Pro has more features then Windows
Movie Maker a lot of which I’ve never used before.
IDEA OR CONCEPT
The idea I had for this piece was to create
a sense of chaos by using chaotic scenes together with calmer but still tension
filled ones. ie the chaos going on outside with the high tension situation of
the heat quickly rising. Then at the very end I would use a photo of Oliver
Sykes and make it seem like everything that happened was all in his head.
There was a point where I almost changed my
idea. I was trying to get the zoom for the photo of Oliver at the end to work
properly but it wasn’t working out how I wanted it to, I got so frustrated that
I almost took it out completely but I kept at it and eventually got it to work.
It’s still not the way I had envisioned it but it’s close.
INFLUENCES
I’m not sure if I really had any influences
for this one, I kind of just went for it.
COMPOSITION
I used the inverted effect on the “CC
Smash” clip at the beginning to put emphasis on the explosion he caused when
his fist hit the ground. I also added a timer that glitches and ticks down
rapidly to put emphasis on the fact that the heat was quickly rising and they
were running out of time to make it stop.
MOTIVATION
I was motivated by the idea in my head.
When we were given the assignment I immediately formed an idea of what I wanted
to do in my mind and I just stuck with it from there. I was determined to take
my ideas and make them reality and it worked, maybe not exactly how I wanted it
to but close.
As for visual ideas I wanted to try mixing
clips from newer media with older media and I think it turned out pretty well.
CRITICAL ASSESSMENT
I think the invert effect with the
explosion looks pretty cool and it worked pretty well to. I also like how when
I added the music I noticed that some of the video clips matched it already,
(the beat of the music go’s with the actions of the characters.)
The thing that surprised me was how hard it
is to actually make an art movie. It’s not too hard to come up with the initial
idea but once you actually start putting it together it’s not the easiest thing
to do. Things don’t always work out the way you planned it, the idea might have
worked in your head but looked like absolute crap on the computer, once you start
the process of putting the movie together it becomes unpredictable, anything
can happen.
With additional time I would probably do
more with the photo of Oliver at the end. The zoom didn’t work the way I wanted
it to and no matter how hard I tried to get it right nothing worked.

My favorite part of "Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid" is when the guy takes the list out of the locker, you can't really read the list so it makes you wonder what it could be.
My favorite part of "Metropolis" is when the guy is there with his eye's bugging out of his head as he tries to reach the handles.
My favorite part of "Battleship Potemkin" is when it shows the man swinging and hitting something but you can't tell exactly what he hit. Did he hit the woman? Did he hit the baby? Did he hit someone or something we didn't even see? You don't know.
At the beginning I want to have an explosion into the chaos, then show some scared faces, then more of the chaos, and finally I want the screen to go black and then zoom out really fast so the black is the pupil of someone's eye and after the zoom you see the actual person. (I hope that made sense)
I will be using a shot of someone punching the ground and causing an explosion to start off the chaos, then between the shot's of chaos I will show the man from Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid on the train oblivious to the chaos, then I will show the temperature rising and the man with the wide fear filled eyes, then to end it the screen will go back and quickly zoom out to show a person standing there staring off into space before the screen goes black for the last time. The ending will leave people asking questions like... Was it all a dream? Was it a memory/flashback? Was it all just in his head? They'll never really know. They also will be left wondering what happened when the heat finally rose too high and if the chaos ever ends.

TECHNICAL
For
this project I used burning, dodging, and layer blending. I used burning and
dodging to fix up the photos of Brandon (left side) and David (right side) to
make them look more professional and I used layer blending to make the puppy in
the top right corner not stand out as much. I also used layer blending to make
Brandon (left side), fit better into the piece as a whole.
IDEA OR CONCEPT
The idea behind the piece to show
my experience at the Vans Warped Tour. I wanted to include photos of the bands
I saw and other music related pictures to emphasis the fact that Warped Tour is
a music festival. I used other cute pictures, ex: the puppy in the top right
corner and the sleeping star in the bottom right corner, to show how I was
feeling throughout the day. Happy, tired and excited!
The
one idea that changed while I was putting the piece together was the idea of
having only one actual band member included, which was going to be Brandon
(left side). As I continued to work I felt the right side needed someone as well
so I added David. I really liked the way it looked with him in it so I decided
to keep it that way. By doing this I had to change where I was going to place
the puppy and I also had to mess with the opacity of the sleeping star until it
looked right.
Another
idea I had was to liquefy the background image and make a new layer out of it.
This added a wavy effect to the background and helped to complete the motion of
the piece as a whole.
INFLUENCES
When it
comes to art I only have a few major influences, they’re not famous artists or
anything but they still create some awesome and unique pieces as a hobby. These
people are Angelo Parente, a tattoo artist and the former drummer of one of my favorite
bands called Motionless in White, I really like his work, he designs clothing
and tattoos, I don’t know what it is about his work that I like but everything
he does has something there that just screams “Angelo!” Another person that
influences my art is Davey Suicide. He’s the lead singer of his band, Davey
Suicide, he paints as a side project and like Angelo all of Davey’s work has
something that screams “Davey!” He likes to take famous people and paint them
in his own way, you can still tell who he’s painting but it’s always somewhere
between realistic and cartoony. Other people who influence my work are Andy
Biersack, Brandi Annette and Michael Kuza.
All of
these people influence my work. I’s hard to say exactly how they influence me
though, I always have these people in mind when I’m working on something new
but I think the way they influence me the most is through motivation. They’re
all amazing at what they do and that motivates me to do better so one day I
might be as good as they are.
MOTIVATION
Like I
said before there are a lot of things that influence me and most are members of
the bands I like or even their girlfriends, like Brandi who is the girlfriend
of James Cassells drummer of Asking Alexandria. My motivation for this
particular piece was how going to Warped Tour and meeting some of my favorite bands
in person affected me. I can’t remember a time that I’ve ever been as happy as
I was when I was at Warped. I felt at home and accepted, everyone there was
like me in a way we all bonded over the fact that we liked the same music and
that none of us were easily accepted by our peers or the people around us. At
Warped Tour we all accepted each other no matter what we wore or how we looked,
it was like you were suddenly part of this big family of outcasts that actually
understood you! It was an amazing feeling! By using Warped Tour as my main
focus of the piece I got to relive that experience and I also get to share it
with others who see my work.
CRITICAL ASSESSMENT
I really
like the way the liquefied background layer looks and how it added to the flow
of the piece I feel like it worked out really well even though I was only
messing around and trying out the liquefication tool. I also feel like the
music notes on the ledger lines ties the whole thing together and just completes
the flow of the piece as a whole.
I was
surprised to find how much changing one little aspect of a photo could affect
it! In some cases you don’t have to do much to make a photo look professional
or more put together than it originally was.
With
additional time I think I might have played with the colors a bit more and
tried to use mostly red, yellow, and blue seeing as those are the Vans Warped
Tour official colors. It would have just added to the emphasis I was putting on
the idea of being at Warped.

First Time Warped
Tour Experience
This past summer, (2014) I went to
the Vans Warped Tour for the first time. My mom got me tickets for my birthday,
and I couldn't wait to go! The drive down to Toronto was long and boring, but I
occupied myself with making little vlogs (Video Logs) to post on Twitter later.
When we got there, we dropped off
our donation at the “Feed the Children” tent and received our "skip the
line" bracelets. After we were in we went straight to main stage to see
Motionless in White's set. Due to problems at the border, the schedule was a
little messed up so they only had time for 3 songs. After seeing them preform I
dragged my mom to their merch tent where I got a "meet and greet"
pass from their merch girl, Allie. After meeting Motionless in White, my mom
and I went to the other side of the venue where the "Ernie Ball"
stage was set up and there I met, Kevin Ghost and Alix Monster from Ghost Town
and Mercedes Arn-Horn and Brandon Lockwood of Courage My Love. The next set we
watched was, A Skylit Drive, and after that, Courage My Love. We took a quick
lunch break before going back to the main stage to see, Breathe Carolina.
Unfortunately we had to leave before Breathe Carolina finished their set in
order to make it to the "Kevin Says" stage to see, Get Scared and
Beartooth.
